4-H is the only youth program which has direct access to the knowledge, theory and research - all of the advances - of the land-grant university system. 4-H continues to teach the newest methods of agriculture to rural youth. Yet, as ours has become more and more an urban nation, 4-H has reached out to meet needs as they evolve in the changing environment. Today, 4-H is challenging new generations of youth with programs in consumer education, computer science, engineering, energy, .nutrition, marine science and space technology, as well as with contemporary programming in such traditional areas as plant and soil science, veterinary science, commodity marketing, conservation and production agriculture. Extension is exploring new ways to deliver 4-H experiences using the latest in educational, electronic and technological advances.
4-H builds better citizens, teaching values and developing skills necessary to lead a good and profitable life.
4-H is anchored firmly in basic fundamental values of human worth ind individual dignity that form the foundation of our democratic government and our system of private enterprise.
