Marvin L. Moore
Marvin Lemuel Moore, 81, of Luray, a retired businessman who was active in civic affairs, died Oct. 1 at Page Memorial Hospital in Luray.
Mr. Moore was manager of the Schewel Furniture Co. store in Luray for 33 years before his retirement in 1973. He began work with the Lynchburg-based furniture chain as a salesman and assistant manager of the Harrisonburg store in 1930.
He was active for many years in the Luray Retail Merchants Association and was a long-time member of the Luray Lions Club. He also had served on the Page County Better Schools Committee.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a member of Luray American Legion Post 22.
Mr. Moore was a member of the Luray United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife, the former Merle Revercomb; two daughters, Barbara Moore Call of Amissville and Marlene Moore Pooler of Fort Kent, Maine; a son, Dr. William Moore of Richmond; two brothers, Lawrence and Edwin Moore, both of Harrisonburg; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
A graveside service was conducted Oct. 4 at Beahm’s Chapel Cemetery by the Rev. William A. Ricketts Jr.

Charles Burke
Charles Ashby Burke, 55, of Culpeper, died Oct. 3 at University of Virginia Hospital.
