The community clubs also emphasize community service liking picking up trash along the highway or visiting senior citizens in thenneighborhood. “We have children in the Woodville, Sperryville, and Washington communities that would like to join a 4-H club, but we need an adult to be the leader for those clubs. If you can help or know someone who can, call the Extension Office at 675-3619,” added Tommy Williams, Extension Agriculture Agent.

In addition, we have a countywide 4-H Teen Club in Rappahannock County. This club is for youth ages 13 and up from all over the county. They meet monthly for an educational program and participate in the highway clean up project as their community service project. Have you noticed the blue signs as you enter the town of Washington?

Most of the 4-H Teen Club programs have related to the outdoors, conservation, recycling, and preserving our environment. They have a field trip to the Chesapeake Bay planned on Nov. 10. “The Teen Club members are very valuable to 4-H because they serve as our teen leaders for 4-H camps, 4-H Ambassadors, International Ambassadors, and other leadership positions,”
