school board. The action came in response to new state law which took effect October 1. Formerly, Sperryville attorney James W. Fletcher served as the official tie breaker for all local governing bodies. Under the new law, the entity responsible for school board appointments — in this case the supervisors — must choose a school board tie breaker; separate from the individual who fills that capacity for the board of supervisors.
The Rev. Edward Jenkins of Washington, the Blue Grass Gospel Boys and other musical groups will present a program Saturday, October 18, at 1 p.m. at the Rappahannock Recreation Center near Washington. Thfc public is invited.
