Cancer Society unit forms

Local residents are in the process of forming a county unit of the American Cancer Society. A nominating committee has been formed, and a meeting will be held Jan. 23 to elect officers and formally constitute the chapter. Carol Miller, one of the organizers, said "I encourage all interested people to join — we believe that the county can benefit from the programs offered by the American Cancer Society,” including public education and research efforts. She said that the new group plans to work "hand in hand” with the . Rappahannock Loan Closet for the benefit of the county's residents. Mrs. Miller urged anyone who wants additional information to contact her (675-3691), Grace Sims (675-3945), John Hartline (987-8679) or Charlotte Freeman (675-3347). "We can use all the help we can get,” Mrs. Miller added.
