Throughout the village prominent professional crafters will be demonstrating their art. Demonstrations will include a variety of quilting techniques, silver and gold smithing, gold gilding, basket making, gingerbread ornaments, decorative painting by an American folk artist, creations from local plants and dyes, and resotration and reproduction of traditional lighting, as well as an exhibit at Middle Street Gallery.
Numerous children’s activities will include a children’s Christmas bazaar and gift-making program, photos with Santa, and a Christmas puppet show by Bob Brown, “Story of the Nutcracker,” at the Child Care and Learning Center.
Guests of the village will be treated to refreshments at many stops around town, but a special treat of the celebration will be colonial meals served at local restaurants. Come sample the delectible tastes of peanut soup, Cornish game hens, traditional salt-cured and glazed ham, chicken and dumplings, Sally Lund bread and combread, Brunswick stew, and a variety of traditional desserts, including apple, pumpkin and pecan pie.
