Saint Anne’s-Bellfield fielded the winning team in Wakefield’s First Annual Academic Invitational Tournament last Saturday.
Thirteen teams participated in the double elimination tournament, which resembles a Pop Quiz competition. Some schools sent both an A and B team.
It was St. Anne’s A team which defeated Wakefield’s A team twice for the championship.
Rappahannock High School’s team was quickly eliminated, losing to St. Anne’s A team in the first round and to Spotswood’s B team in the second.
Wakefield’s B team didn’t fare .. any better, losing to Luray in the _ first round and Spotswood’s A team in the second.
The St. Anne’s A team cruised to an easy victory defeating Rappahan, nock, Madison, Central, and Wakefield-A, and then had to wait several rounds before the Wakefield-A team again qualified to join them in the fi: nal round. *
Wakefield’s A team defeated Spotswood’s A team, Luray and STAB’s B team before losing to St.
