RICHMOND — The* Virginia State Police will join other state law enforcement agencies across the nation on Thanksgiving weekend for the 12th consecutive year as participants in Operation C.A.R.E.

C.A.R.E. is an acronym for Combined Accident Reduction Effort, a state-sponsored national program during the major holiday weekends of Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, and Thanskgiving.

Virginia State Police participate in the program by increasing the availability of troopers to patrol selected heavily-travelled sections of interstate, secondary and primary roads during the C.A.R.E. reporting period of 6 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 21, to midnight Sunday, Nov. 25.
