Piedmont District representative Charles K. “Pete” Estes asked who had the final say on the fee schedule.
Mr. McCarthy answered that there is a Waste Management Board whose members are appointed by the General Assembly and the governor which will set the final fees.
Following the meeting Mr. McCarthy wrote a letter to the governor with copies to Rappahannock’s representatives in the General Assembly and to the Boards of Supervisors in Culpeper, Page, Fauquier, Madison, Warren and Albemarle counties, opposing the proposed fee schedule.
Mr. Land of VACO also wrote to Wladimir Gulevich, Director of DWM’s Division of Technical Services stating that VACO believes that DWM should “receive adequate funding from the General Assembly to provide sufficient staff to expeditiously review applications for the permitting of solid waste facilities.”
