who are going to be involved in academic competition practice four days a week during the entire school year. “It’s an every day commitment for those who are signed up,” according to faculty advisor and coach Randy Cornell.
However, those who are taking six academic subjects are allowed to miss some practices to take part in other activities, and two members of the team work on the school newspaper and one works on the yearbook. Those activities also take place during the activity period.
The St. Anne’s team participates in several tournaments and will host one of its own in the spring. They also participate in the “It’s Academic” competition in Washington, D.C. in the spring.
Of all the teams St. Anne’s fields the Pop Quiz team has the best wortloss record, Mr. Cornell said, adding that he thinks academic teams should get more publicity.
His team members took the victory in stride. They were eager to get back to their campus outside Charlottesville where three of the team members were due to perform in a play Saturday evening.
