The Lord Fairfax Food Bank will launch its Hands Against Hunger fund raising campaign on Nov. 23.
The funds raised are used to operate the modem distribution center located on 1011 Fort Collier Road in the Winchester Industrial Park. The facility provides food to over 140 charitable agencies in the Winchester area.
This year the food bank is facing record demands. The need promises to be even greater in the months ahead.
“The high cost of home heating fuel this winter will cut deeply into the food budgets of the poor,” said Food Bank manager Sally Coates. “A lot of poor people, especially the elderly, will sacrifice grocery purchases to keep their house warm.Free food from our agencies can make a big difference.”
