China, silver, and crystal gleam on white linen. The aroma of turkey, sage and pumpkin pie fills the air on this Thanksgiving Day, as each one is seated around the table in eager anticipation. Then, from the head of the table, a voice is heard:
“Now, let us return thanks."
How do we return thanks to God for those gifts He has given to us? Certainly, it is important to thank God in prayer. Yet, is it not also appropriate to show the Giver our appreciation by the very use of those gifts?
If God has given you strength.. .lift up the weak; hope. ,. encourage the hopeless; joy.. . shower it on all you meet; a talent. . . use it to enrich the lives of others; financial success. . . share with those who have not.
God has given each of us the gift of His merciful love, that we might "love thy neighbor as thyself." Yes, we each have our own special gifts.
So, may your Thanksgiving Day be fulfilling and memorable, and on this day and every day, let us truly return thank*.
