Troopers participating in Operation C.A.R.E. during last year’s holiday weekend patrolled 199,122 miles, responded to 554 accidents, and assisted 3,155 motorists. On the 1,089 miles of C.A.R.E. designated highways, troopers issued 5,079 summonses, including 3,048 for speeding, 647 for reckless driving, 112 for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, and wrote 240 citations for failure to wear seat belts.
