New library series announced
Starting at 8 p.m. Sept. 6, there will be a series of educational programs at the new Rappahannock County Library entitled "Rappahannock Perspectives: First Friday Series."
The first in the series is on the Civil War, featuring Brandy Station expert Bud Hall and war relics found in Rappahannock by Richie Burke, Larry Connors, Mike Cave and Bobby Foster. Trish Darby is program coordinator.
The second, Oct. 4, will be about historic mills in the county and the process of researching their history. Program coordinators are Kathy Knuepfer, Lucia Kilby, Nancy Achilles, and Linda Stilly-Tarry.
The third in the series, on Nov. 1, is about the "free spirits" from the '60s and their impact on Rappahannock. Sam McDermott and Jane Coon are program coordinators.
The fourth installment will be Dec. 6 on resources of the area, including Shenandoah National Park, the Smithsonian Breeding Station, the Wildlife Center of Virginia, the 4-H Center and 4-H Clubs. Mitzie Young is program coordinator.
The last in the series, on Jan. 3, will be entitled "The Best of All Worlds: Living and Working in Rappahannock County." It will deal with topics|rom agriculture to the arts. Madelaine /' Bonsignore and Joy Benedict are^ ft program coordinators.
