abuse problem at the Board’s July meeting, held last Thursday, July 1. County game warden Jim Bankston asked the Supervisors to authorize enforcement of an amendment to the Virginia code making it illegal to carry a loaded rifle or shotgun in a motor vehicle. The Supervisors voted unanimously to grant Bankston’s request, despite the advice of the Commonwealth s Attorney, and authorized enforcement of the ordinance in Rappahannock County.
A 19-year old student from Helsinki, Finland, PekkaPakarinen, will be the featured guest at the Rappahannock Lions Club annual family picnic Wednesday evening, July 14, at the Rappahannock- Recreation Center. Pekka is spending five weeks in America under the Lions International Youth Exchange Program. His hobbies are sailing and swimming and he won the Finnish national swimming championships for youth 17 and under. He will show slides at the Lions picnic.
