Amissville residents may soon have a playground of their own. “The Amissville Methodist Mother’s Group wants to build a playground,” Amissville mother Janet Hackley Macklea said. “We want to provide a play area for our children that is not 15 minutes awayv” she said. Presently, the only playground facilities for Amissville toddlers and youths are in Warrenton and Washington, both 10 to 15 minutes from Amissville. The proposed Amissville playground site is Stuart Field just off U.S. 211. The planned playground design includes swings, slides and climbing sections. At present, only little league sports are played at Stuart Field.
