Antiques and family mementos are evident throughout and every effort has been made to give a feeling of quiet retreat.
The Conyers House was the stop for dinner. Once known as Conyer’s Old Store (1815), the inn offers rooms in both the main house and in two private cottages. Like many innkeepers, Norman and Sandra Cartwright-Brown take special interest in their guests, organizing trail rides and serving candlelit sixcourse dinners.
And as it began, the progressive dinner ended with a view. Atop Menefee Mountain (elev. 1,043 feet) from the veranda of Sycamore Hill House, a panoramic view of Kerri Wagner’s famous gardens were served along with dessert. Illustrator Stephen’s original art work also graces much of Sycamore Hill. Three elegant rooms are available, each with private bath ant queen size beds.
Future progressive dinners are presently scheduled for Sunday, Sept. 15 and Sunday, Nov. 10. Times for each are 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. The price per person is $50 and reservations can be made by calling 987-8025.
