Canoeing trips, which include a canoe, paddles, PFDs and a shuttle service, range from $20 for a 12-mile trip from Kelly’s Ford to the campground, to $80 for a 50-mile trip. The longer trip carries canoeists from Raccoon Ford to Eley’s Ford on the Rapidan River and from Remington to Mott’s Run Landing on Rappahannock including four days’ canoeing and five nights’ camping.
Tubing trips range from two miles to 12 miles and cost from $13 to $33.
For those who who would like to fish on the property, a $3 parking fee a day is charged. To put in your own canoe, there is a $3 charge per craft. Shuttle service for canoe owners is also offered.
The Haases appreciate the beauty of the river and respect it.
“We encourage proper disposal of trash and we provide a plastic bag. We offer a 50-cent refund per person if they clean up trash in the river and on its banks,” said Mrs. Haase. “Our commitment is not to spoil the river area, so we don’t allow cars, radios or clearing trees, and people can’t camp right on the river.”
The Rappahannock River Campground Inc. is located approximately 50 minutes from Warrenton.
From Warrenton, take Route 29 South to the blinking light near Remington and turn left on Route 651. Go through Remington and stay on Route 651 for five miles. Take a right on Route 620 and follow for eight miles. Take a left on Route 610 and follow to Richardsville. Take a left on Route 619 and follow for 2.7 miles to a left on Route 683. Go 1.4 miles, and the campground entrance will be on the left.
