“My friends and family thought I was crazy,” he said with a smile, adding, at first, there was little support for his new purchase.
Today, after the exterior has been given a new coat of paint, the inside refurbished, a bathroom installed, and other decorative and home maintanence items finished, the store feels like home to Mr. Sharp.
“I can’t wait to get here on the weekends,” he said, adding due to his job, his store is open “on ocassion, whenever I can get here.”
Familiar faces frequent the store when the door is open — and when it’s not.
“In the winter, people see the smoke coming from the chimney, and drop in,” he said with pride, adding when the store first opened, he kept the shelves stocked with store essentials.
“I just wasn’t here enough to help the stock move,” he said, explaining the limited supply of items and the variety.
