• Howard Wulsin Coon, 39, of Castleton, was charged

Howard Wulsin Coon, 39, of Castleton, was charged with possession of marijuana and driving under the influence of drugs as a result of a traffic stop on July 3, according to Virginia State Trooper S.A. Hawkins.

Trooper Hawkins said he stopped Coon’s 1991 Ford Ranger pickup truck for speeding about 11:45 p.m. on U.S. 211, IY2 miles east of Route 681 in Fauquier County. *

Trooper Hawkins stated that when he approached the truck he noticed a strong odor of marijuana. He searched Coon and the truck’s interior and discovered suspected marijuana, he said.

He then placed the two charges. Hawkins said additional charges are pending.

• An Alexandria man was charged with possession of illegal fireworks and possession of marijuana following a traffic stop on U.S. 211 at 12:50 a.m. July 4, according to Sgt. D.S. Adams of the State Police.

Charles Patrick Morris, 21, was operating a 1977 Chevy pickup when he was stopped by Trooper R.E. Keen for defective equipment, said Sgt. Adams. When he opened the glove box to retrieve his registration, said Sgt. Adams, illegal fireworks were spotted “in plain view” by the trooper. When Trooper Keen asked Morris if any illegal drugs were in the vehicle, said Sgt. Ad- ' ams, Morris produced a bag of suspected marijuana. A wooden pipe was also found, said Sgt. Adams.

• Two persons were charged with possession of marijuana after allegedly running a traffic roadblock on U.S. 211 at 9:30 p.m. July 3, according to Sgt. D.S. Adams of the State Police.

Dana Jennifer Park, 22, of Gainesville, was operating a 1988 Isuzu pickup when she allegedly failed to stop and was pursued by Trooper C.A. Moore, said Sgt. Adams. The vehicle was determined to have a defective exhaust system, said Sgt. Adams.

Phillip Todd Brown, 23, of Herndon, was a passenger in the vehicle.

Sgt. Adams said a consent search revealed marijuana, and .., both of the car’s occupants were charged with possession.
