a civic leader in Culpeper that the town has always been careful about the size of business establishments proposing to move in. In this way the demise, for whatever reason, of any single business did not equate with economic hardship for the entire community.

for the ill
To the Editor:
Reflecting on last weeks Rappahannock News editorial, I think it would be safe to say that one should not look to this newspaper for sympathy should one become ill. With attitudes such as the one that the paper presented last week, it may behoove Congressman Slaughter to place a large phone book, or an occupied sign, on his House chamber seat whenever he is not present.
It is important to realize that alternate ways to communicate exist other then articulation. In fact, Congress would be a whole lot better off if these alternatives were explored. There is a lot more to being a Congressman besides making dramatic patriotic speeches before the TV camera for the benefit of the constituents at home. Actions speak louder than words, and that is just what French Slaughter has given us over his career in politics.
I am certain that we can trust Congressman Slaughter to know when he needs to step down. As always, he has considered the taxpayer in his choice of dates, (ie.
