Library Board members are awaiting word from the state library on an application for a $23,500 grant. The decision has been made at the state library level, but it will be May before they know.
If the library receives the grant, by the summer of 1993 patrons will be able to use a computer instead of a card catalog to find books.
The catalog will be on a CD ROM disc, and it should be much faster to search for books by a known author or books on a certain subject with the computer than with the card catalog.
This summer the library will hire a parttime worker to help with the grant. Shelf cards will be sent to an outside contractor to prepare the CD ROM and a tape listing of the library’s holdings to go into the state’s records.
