Mr. Walker’s many civic and community interests included membership in the BPOE Elks Lodge No. 2382 in Front Royal, but it was perhaps his contributions to the Flint Hill Volunteer Fire Company that were most noteworthly.
He was a leading organizer of the fire department’s popular carnival every year, taking the initiative to recruit Miss Virginia, among countless other efforts. He was the fire department secretary at the time of his passing.
