'Fried Green Tomatoes'
The Sunday night RAAC movie at The Theatre at Washington, Va. will be the Oscar-nominated “Fried Green Tomatoes," Rated PG-13, 7:30 p.m. April 5.
The movie stars Academy Award nominee Jessica Tandy in a supporting role; also starring Kathy Bates, Mary-Louise Parker, Mary Stuart Masterson and Cicely Tyson.
In this comic, heartwarming tale of a family, friendship and murder in rural Alabama, Bates plays a depressed housewife who attends all manner of selfhelp workshops to avert her mid-life and marriage crises.
On a visit to a nursing home Bates meets a wry granny (Tandy), who spins a tale spanning 71 years. The story details the enduring friendship of two women as they struggle to build their lives amid continuing hardship. It's a movie you'll remember with pleasure for a long time.
"Fried Green Tomatoes" was nominated for an Oscar in the Best Adapted Screenplay category.
Tickets are $4 for adults, $3 for children.
