It’s important to realize that we never promised that the photos would run every week, nor could we. There are a multitude of other activities going on in the county during a given week, and when push has come to shove we have had to decide to hold over the dog photos—after all, they are in the paper almost every week. And the Classified Section’s free lost-dog registry and shelter information does run in every issue_ eight pages or 20.
We are committed to running the photos as regularly as we can, and feel that the demand by readers warrants it. But when you pick up a eight-page paper and don’t find it in there, dpn t think that our commitment has diminished. Our news hole, maybe, but not our commitment. You might ask why we’re even keeping this issue alive, as the dog photos have been running, as usual, in our paper since the letters started coming in. The answer is simple: Our silence could be interpreted aagoing along with those who want us to print the photos every week. When we don’t run them one week, which will inevitably happen, we’ll have the same controversy all over > again.
