We have nothing but admiration for those who spend, as i we do, their time and resources week in and week out aiding the sad plight of animals who end up in the shelter. There is much to be done and we hope more will pitch in in the future.
One final thought: the attention that this matter has drawn to the shelter, RAWL, and this paper’s continued support of the plight of lost, abused and orphaned dogs has been an unintended benefit of the controversy. If this tempest in a teapot has people talking about the shelter and the fine folks at RAWL, even at the expense of some unwarranted bad publicity for the News, we can live with that. Some clouds do indeed have silver linings.
