We are more ;■ than happy to provide those working with adopted animals free access to our paper, but to be maligned for it is another matter. There may not be more than a handful of RAWL volunteers who, as we do, make an effort every single week on behalf of lost dogs.
Given that the lost-dog report runs every week, it’s safe to say that the criticism is that the photo of an adoptable dog isn’t running every single week.
A little history: About a year ago it was the Rappahanrwck News’ suggestion, not RAWL’s, that a photo would be more effective than simply a listing. And by all accounts it has been. During the first few months the photos were not being supplied on a consistent basis, but this paper took it upon itself to pursue the matter, and today those running the shelter are doing an excellent job of sending them in, and on time. We have accomodated RAWL in other ways as well, and we would never bother to point all of that out, except that now readers are threatening to pull their subscriptions^, saying we aren’t doing enough.
