Nathan Flinchum

in state contest

Nathan Flinchum, a seventh grader at Rappahannock Elementary School, competed in the fourth annual Virginia Geography Bee at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond last week.

His social studies teacher, Arthur Neufeld, also made the trip.

Nathan was among the top 105 students from across the Commonwealth of Virginia who qualified to compete in the state bee semifinal. Although he did not make the final round, it was the first time Rappahannock County has been represented in^ the statewide competition.

The match, with the 10 finalists, will be aired at 6 p.m. April 4 on WVPT-Harrisonburg.

Nathan is the son of Roger and Deborah Flinchum of Viewtow n.
