Bowl-a-Thon
to be held
To the Editor:
Two years ago, the Rappahannock-Rapidan Community Services Board began a small adult day care program at Shadow Lawn in Warrenton. With a modest start-up grant from the Northern Virginia Building Industry Association, we sought to provide a place for Alzheimer’s victims and other conftised and frail elderly people.
Since the expiration of the startup grant, we’ve supported the program with client fees, a small amount from United Way, and an annual bowlathon that we call “Bowl for Seniors.”
It is our hope that the day care center might serve nearby Rappahannock County families in need of a safe place for a confused or frail member during the day. We offer warm, personal attention, a meal and snacks, a crafts program, music and exercise.
We’re especially proud that we’ve been able to provide this service without high administrative costs. u
