Farmington flat winner I Lead The Band, with Patrick Cooney, is making his first start over hurdles at Old Dominion. Jack Kent Cooke’s Big Nado, with Woods Winants up, finished third last week in his first start. He may be prepped for a big effort Saturday.
A novice timber race for nonwinners of four replaces the nonwinners of three this year at Old Dominion, in hopes of attracting a large, classy field. The strategy worked, and up to 23 will face starter’s orders. Topping the list is a pair of entrants from the Hamilton stable of Joe Rogers. Roses and Drums and Blue Rocket are both entered for perennial leading owner-trainer Mr. Rogers.
Tough running is expected out of last year’s multiple winner Tillo, with Patrick Worrall aboard. Gram of Gold, Fe, Dunlogin and Worthy Key are locally connected runners who have good shots at glory in the well-filled race.
