The members also approved special use permits for Eldon Crowell and Laymon Horton to construct family apartments on their properties. Mr. Crowell said he wanted a family apartment for his sister, who lives in Oregon and is in poor health.
Mr. Hortbn’s family apartment would be for his son and daughterin-law to build on his property to care for him. Member Jennifer Matthews was concerned that Mr. Horton’s house had water only at a sink and no septic system. The new building will include a septic system, but it will not serve the main house.
“They’re doing the right thing with the new house,” Piedmont District representative Jimmy Swindler noted. The members agreed they could not do anything about the existing house.
They also approved the site plans for the new Assembly of God Church to be constructed on U.S. 522-211. They required that the parking be screened from the road by pine trees. They also learned that the Woodville Baptist Church had withdrawn its application for a variance.
