Several recent letters and phone calls have raised the question of our support of the efforts of the Rappahannock Animal Welfare League (RAWL) through publishing regular t photos of available dogs and listings of lost dogs. It’s a fail ; question, but it appears that in some cases those expressing ! concern are acting on incorrect or incomplete information. Whether or not you agree with this paper’s practices and policies, you should at least be aware of what they are.
First of all, every single week, in the Classified Section, readers can find a listing of lost dogs, which we run free ol charge. Unfortunately, we simply cannot commit to running 1 the dog photos and found-dog listing every week. The reason i is simple: the Rappahannock News, during the past six * months, has ranged in size from eight to 20 pages, depending * on the advertising content. There are many things we can in: elude in a 20-page paper that we cannot fit into a eight-page ► news hole. While we put a high priority on the dog photos, ; there is a limit to what we can do, given the available space.
