The Tom Cunningham Orchestra will perform at the opening Bluemont Summer Concert of the Warrenton season at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 27.
The Tom Cunningham Orchestra is a repertory big band which performs in the elegant style of the swing era with solid renditions of the big band favorites, accompanied by the RPM Trio, with lovely harmony singing.
The Orchestra has been enormously popular with Bluemont audiences in the past. Tom Cunningham is renowned for his ability to recreate not only the sound but also the feel of the big band era. The band is from the Washington, D.C. area.
Held on the lawn of the Warren Green Hotel in downtown Warrenton, this wonderful family concert has a requested admission of $3 per person. All are welcome.
The lawn of the old Warren Green Hotel is a beautiful setting to hear a concert. There is plenty of parking available nearby, and local streets are closed to vehicular traffic during a concert.
Families are encouraged to bring a blanket or lawn chairs and a picnic if they like. Homemade refreshments will be availabe at intermission prepared by volunteers from Cub Scout Pack 1016. There will be special doorprizes at the concert provided by Warrenton businesses.
The Tom Cunningham Orchestra will be performing this weekend at local nursing homes and hospitals as part of the Bluemont Concert Series community benefit program. These performances continue throughout the year. For more information contact Peter Dunning at 703-777-6306.
This performance is the first of a series of 10 Warren Green Concerts. The Warren Green Concerts are presented by the Bluemont Concert Series in partnership with the County of Fauquier, the Town of Warrenton and a broad base of businesses, community groups and individuals in Warrenton.
This series is part of regional project of courthouse concerts supported by community partnerships in Culpeper, Leesburg, Warrenton, Luray, Orange and Winchester.
Concerts will be held outdoors whenever possible; decision to move indoors is made at 5 p.m. on the day of the concert; information wjll be broadcast over local radio stations. In the even§*of bad weather, this concert will be held indoors at Taylor Junior High School.
