I do not know if Ross Perot would be a good president.
I believe he would make an honest effort. I believe everyone makes an effort to the extent they are able. However those in the two m^jor political parties are restricted by the party and by contributors.
They are doing it the way that it has always been done. Even the press seems prejudiced since Perot isn’t doing it in the usual way.
Every promise, every gesture, and each emotion laid through the media by the party candidates is carefully measured and calculated to get a vote. The whole scenario is a performance. We get no real information.
We, the listeners, are being insulted. The candidate looks us in the eye with a mean of great honesty and sincerity and then promises to do something that he cannot do. He knows that you know he is making a false promise. He knows that you know that he knows that you know that he is lying, but he smiles confidentialy and keeps on, the happy warrior.
And that is what you get for a President, false promises and calculated insults, but if you need the comfort of having it done the way it has always been done, there it is.
Remember the old saw, “If you keep doing things the way you have been doing them, you will keep getting the results you have been getting."
Several people have said to me that they will not support Perot until he comes up with some positive programs. I for one, will be disappointed if Perot starts coming up with solutions. What he says now is that he will seek the advice of competent and intelligent assistance and that he will be an advocate of what seems the best thing to do. I hope that he will just stick with that.
Others say that he is buying the Presidency; I would prefer a President who bought it rather than what we have been getting; people who sell it. He will, having bought it, cherish it a little closer.
I cannot imagine that he would tax the rich unmercifully since he is
