In a companion case, Randy Lynn Hitt also entered an Alford plea to an amended charge of petty larceny in the same incident. Hitt was originally charged wit breaking and entering and grand larceny in the theft of the chainsaw.

Judge Robertson also issued a capias for the arrest of Robert Boyd Tharpe, 20, of Manassas, for a violation of his probation.

Tharpe was found guilty last year of petty larceny in the theft of a rifle he allegedly obtained from his grandfather under false pretenses. He received a 12 month suspended sentence, with 45 days to serve on weekends, and was ordered to pay restitution.

According to court records, he has violated those terms. Commonwealth’s attorney Peter Luke asked for the capias, and Judge Robertson agreed.
