And a long-time favorite among children, chocolate milk, is seeing increased competition from different flavored milks. Children and adults are enjoying strawberry, banana, coffee and coconut-pineapple milks.
New products for adults also are being developed, test-marketed, and introduced across the country. The new products must be fast, convenient and healthy. According to an expert at Noble & Associates, “Fusion cuisine — combining different ethnic foods like Mexican and Oriental — is becoming more popular as adults search for variety in the diet consumed outside the home.”
When stopping by the grocery store instead of the restaurant, adults want convenience and balance, especially in the dairy case. Country Lake Foods, a division of Land 0 Lakes Inc. in Minneapolis, has introduced ‘Tasty, Light and Creamy,” or “TLC.” TLC milk, available in two percent, one percent, skim and one percent chocolate milk, has substantial texture and taste but is lower in calories.
