The Amissville Volunteer Fire and Rescue will hold its annual car* nival this week, June 24-27.
Everyone is invited to view the parade Thursday night along U.S. 211 beginning at 7 p.m.
Crowning of the queen and her court is set for 9 p.m. Friday night.
On Friday evening cash prizes will be given away. Purchase your tickets for drawing from any of the contestants or fire department members.
Carnival begins Wednesday night with all rides $6; Thursday through Saturday rides are $7.
Take your aluminum, steel, glass, office paper, and newspaper to be recycled this Saturday, June 27 at Poplar Comer Service Center on Rt. 229.
You are reminded you may also take recyclables directly to Rappahannock landfill on Rt. 639, north side of U.S. 211, from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. daily except Sunday and Wednesday. You may also take plastics there.
Newspapers should have the “shiny” inserts removed before recycling; also, take an extra moment to crush cans, and rinse bottles and cans before recycling since this would prevent bees from being attracted to them during the hot summer days.
