Virginia State Trooper G.T. Settle stopped a 1988 Mazda pickup truck June 20 on U.S. 211, just east of Route 627, for suspicion of driving under the influence.
After administering field sobriety tests, Settle reported, he arrested Michale Guenther, 27, of Vienna, for DUI. A search of Guenther’s person during the arrest turned up suspected marijuana, and Gunther was charged with possession*
Alvin Petitt, 59, of Linden, struck and killed a bear on U.S. 211 about 7:15 a.m. June 17.
According to a report filed by Trooper S.A. Hawkins, the bear ran across the road in front of Petitt’s 1986 Ford pickup truck as he travelled west on U.S. 211 just west of Route 626.
