You can become a gold-medal winner! Come and join the Rappahannock County Library’s Reading Team. You will receive a reading log to chart your progress, set your own personal goal, have a chance to win prizes, and attend fun programs. All library programs are free and open to the public. Reflecting the Olympic tradition of doing your best, this year’s summer reading program theme is “Reach for it. Read!”
Olympic athletes not only attain personal glory, they earn glory for their country. By being a member of the library’s reading team, you can win prizes and earn money for the library. The Rappahannock National Bank has once again pledged up to $1,000 towards the library’s building fund at a dollar per book read as part of the summer reading program. Starting July 8 there will be weekly drawings for prizes donated by many local businesses and community groups. You will have fun and help your frineds try to surpass last year’s record. Become a gold-medal reader!
This year’s free programs offer alot of variety — songs, stories, magic, space, puppets and more puppets.
Reaching for space and things the astronauts do will be covered by Pat Biggs of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration at 10 a.m. on July 1. This program is recommended for school age children.
Cindy Andreoni will amuse everyone with stories and songs at 10 a.m. July 8.
Mr. Magic will amaze you with his feats of magic and the unbelievable “Water from India” during the evening at 7 p.m. on July 15. This program is also recommended for school age division.
Storyteller Mike Dunnigan will entrance children of all ages with his stories at 10 a.m. on July 22.
At 10 a.m. on July 29 Beth Levick will entertain everyone with music.
August is puppet month at the library. The members of Jr. Girl Scout Troop . 547 will present a puppet show at 10 a.m. on Aug. 5. Bob
