Cindy Mahan, staff photographer forthe Rappahannock News, led the paper to a series of five awards at the annual awards ceremony of the Virginia Press Association.

She won first place for a combination sequence of photos on logging with draft horses and a third place for her picture of strawberries at the organization’s annual meeting this past weekend.

The paper itself won a First Place award for general makeup. This award honors the general design of the paper and is based on a series of issues.

Former editors Frances Bishop and Mark Scolforo also won awards. Ms. Bishop’s feature story on Rabbi Carla won a first place award for feature writing. Mr. Scolforo received a second place award for design of a single edition.
