V'ball teams
lose final
home games
The volleyball season ended for home fans with four hard fought but unsuccessful games against Central. Both the varsity and the JV lost their matches leaving them with season records in district play of five wins and three losses.
They will play at George Mason Wednesday in games that don’t count in District rankings. Then the varsity faces the district tournament at Page Saturday.
At the beginning of the season Coach Paul Paratore noted that they had finished fourth in the district last year, and that the district powers have traditionally been Page, Strasburg and Central. It appears that Rappahannock will finish fourth again with district losses only to Page, Strasburg and Central. However, the team beat Central in the tournament last year and should not be counted out yet.
In the first JV game the team lost 10 to 15 after pulling to a one point deficit at 9 to 10. The second game was even closer with the score tied at 11 each before the home team went down 11 to 15.
The varsity team also lost in two games both by scores of 7 to 15.
