John Baumgardner
passes exam
John Baumgardner, a land surveryor in Rappahannock County recently passed the Virginia Professional Engineer exam and is now a Registered Professional Engineer in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
Mr. Baumgardner lives near Washington and was graduated from the Virginia Military Institute with a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering in 1974.
A First Lieutenant in the United States Field Artillery, Mr. Baumgardner worked as an Engineer for the Virginia State Corporation Commission in Richmond from 1974-1977 and later from 1979-1986 as the Operations Engineer for the Southeastern Region of Columbia Gas Transmission Corporation. He also worked for Richard Vogel, VH&D Inc., a surveying company in Warrenton for seven years.
The Professional Engineering license requires a degree in Engineering with a minimum of four years of experience working in the field of engineering and under a licensed Professional Engineer in addition to passing 16 hours of examinations.
Mr. Baumgardner is self-employed and has his own Land Surveying and Civil Engineering Company here in Rappahannock with an office across from the high school.
Mr. Baumgardner specializes in boundary and topographic surveys and like his father, F.M. Baumgardner will begin engineering work in the county.
Mr. Baumgardner is one of few individuals that is both a licensed land surveyor and a professional engineer that resides in a rural area.
