The transcendent beauty of a stained glass window, waxing and waning with the sun, has transfixed human eyes for centuries.

The oldest surviving example of the craft — the Wissembourg Disk — traces back to the 11th century.

Stained glass windows surged to prominence as a religious art form in the 12th century and remain so today.

One of the finest manufacturers of new stained glass windows and restorers of older windows is Shenandoah Studios of Stained Glass, located just outside of Front Royal on the Strasburg Road. The firm has spent the last 17 years building a reputation as one of the leading stained glass studios in the country.

More than 2,000 customers have called on the artists and craftspeople there to save a treasured window from the declines of age or to design and execute new works of art.
