Wine tasting to benefit WCDS
On Sunday, Feb. 21, a wine tasting will be held at Napoleon’s Restaurant in Warrenton from 4-5:30 p.m. to benefit Wakefield Country Day School in Huntly.
The wine tasting will be hosted and led by Dan Kravitz, a national wine importer, and Wakefield Country Day parent. Kravitz specializes in French wines.
The cost is $10 per person. Tickets are available from the school office and at the door. Call 635-8555 or write P.O. Box 513, Washington, VA 22747 for more information. Proceeds will benefit the independent day school which draws students from twelve counties in Virginia and West Virginia.
Those who wish to stay for dinner after the wine tasting will receive a 10 percent discount from Napoleon’s. Reservations are recommended.
Beauty contest
The Castleton Fire and Rescue Department will be hosting a womanless beauty contest at 7 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 12 at Rappahannock High School. First, second and third prize will be awarded for the prettiest beauties. Cost is $5 for adults and $3 children 12 and under. Tickets will be sold in advance and may be purchased by calling 9373076 or 937-4676, after 6 p.m.
Buffet breakfast
The Washington Volunteer Fire Department will hold a buffet breakfast from 7-11 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 13 at the fire hall. The menu will consist of sausage, bacon, biscuits, gravy, cereal, eggs, pancakes, hash browns, fried apples, milk, coffee, tea, juice and hot chocolate. Cost is $5 for adults and $3 for children.
Dance at Amissville
The Amissville Volunteer Fire Department will sponsor a dance from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. at the fire hall on Saturday, Feb. 20. The band Royal Tones will perform. Proper dress and identification is required. For more information or reservations call Sheila Scott at 937-4357.
Quaker meetings
Silent Quaker meetings will be held at 10:30 a.m. every Sunday at The Child Care Learning Center. Children are welcome.
Storyhour to begin
Preschool storyhour will begin at 10:15 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 9 at the Rappahannock County Library. All preschoolers and their parents are invited to come and enjoy the stories, crafts, and activites. The programs will continue every Tuesday through March.
