would have been unthinkable a decade ago is likely to pass this year because of the power shifts brought about by rapid demographical changes. The balance of power in Richmond is held by suburban inter-ests and suburban interests are undoubtedly the key to the pending statewide elections.
I don’t get paid enough for this column to dispense any particular wisdom to prospective candidates about how to approach the election with the priority in mind of getting a solid majority in densely populated suburban areas, but I would suggest that most of these folks are pragmatists who are most interested in 4,hings that affect their own livesthings like transportation, education, health care, the environment.
