New tack needed
on school issue

Much has been said lately of America’s slip from the global role of #1. Our place as the world’s top producer is sliding, our children don’t appear to be the brightest, we owe others a lot of money.
The new focus seems to be how we will get through the upcoming years, how exactly are we going to maintain what we have-not yet lost?
I wonder if our fears are not our sole problem? I'd like to suggest that being less than on top might not be the hole that we anticipate. I think that it is OK to be second, third, or whatever if viewed within a continuum, rather than the fall of an em pire.
The world as we live it today is not the same as we remember it yesterday. it is never going, to be such again, and it’s really not intelligent to hope that it might be. Maintenance is not going to work, while the problems become different faster.
If for a moment you’ll view your life from start, to finish as a relay race, the best you Ckn do, is all you can do, with the hope of a good pass at the end. Maintenance of a lead only suggests to me that you might fail, and doesn’t provide anything for the next guy.
A.better race might be run from behind by runners who recognize their position and are striving to change it.
I also went to the first public hearing about building a new Middle School. It amazes me that in a room where everyone’s ears are subjected to the same sounds so many different things are heard.
What I heard was an overwhelm
