Late Saturday night or sometime early Sunday morning a man was assaulted at the Pine Knot Inn between Sperryville and Washington onll.S. 211.

Sheriff John Henry Woodward said Tuesday that he had been told a Harold Lamont Fletcher had suffered a stab wound in the back and a head wound during an altercation.

“Mr. Fletcher apparently was driven to the Warren Memorial Hospital by someone at the Pine Knot,”the Sheriff said, “as the rescue squad was not called.”

Sheriff Woodward said he was told on Sunday that Mr. Fletcher did not wish to press charges but that he called the department on Monday to say he had changed his mind.

He has been released from the hospital but had not contacted the Sheriff or a local magistrate by noon Tuesday.

Sheriff Woodward also reported that an above-ground swimming pool was stolen over the weekend from Chester Gap.

The pool belonged to Milly Procopio and was in the yard of her house. She has moved to Wampum, Pa., the Sheriff said, and the house is up for sa^, l.Jn court action last week Anthqpy Allen Sheffield was sentenced for a series of crimes by Judge Shore Robertson. Sheffield received six months in jail for larceny and had the following sentences suspended on condition of three years supervised probation: five years for break and enter; 12 months for petty larceny; and 12 months for tresspass.
