In addition to the group’s regular course of instruction in the community, it has continued to maintain ah active program of tutoring inmates at the jail. A computer and instrcutional software have been acquired to promote independent learning skills. And last spring, the “Reading With Children” program was launched to assist parents of preschoolers to develop their children^ school readiness through language stimulation. *
The agenda for the meeting will include: a brief summary of the group’s accomplishments during the year that ended on June, 30, 1993; election of four directors for tlfe three-year term; presentation of tljp operating budget for 1993-94; and an address by Pat Brummett, the Regional Adult Education Specialist f<fr Planning District 9. Mrs. BrummeCt will speak on the subject of Family Literacy, stressing the importanoe of the parent as a child’s primaiy teacher and the need to establi& early intervention in the child’s development. «
