Dear Virginia:
Thanks to you, in just five years the Virginia Lottery has emerged as one of the leading lotteries in the nation. Since tickets went on sale September 20, 1988, lottery players have purchased 3-5 billion tickets and have won $1.7 billion in prizes. Each year, Virginia lottery revenues have grown. More than $1.1 billion has been turned over to Virginia’s general fund, to be used for education, health and human services, and public safety programs across the Commonwealth. As we celebrate our fifth year, the Virginia Lottery wanted to let you know how we are doing. We hope you find the information in this special anniversary publication informative. We also want to say “thank you” to lottery players with three special promotions. This fall, you’ll have a chance to win some different prizes:
• double Pick 4 prizes
• free videotapes, compact discs and cassette tapes
• a trip to the Daytona 500 for you and a friend. Details on these exciting offerings appear on the next page. Thanks again for five fabulous years!
