Who Speaks
For the County?
Someone remarked to us that Rappahannock County is not a unified area, so the Rappahannock News really “can’t speak” for the entire county.
First, we don’t try to “speak” for the entire county. The paper reports news, events and opinions that affect and are of interest to residents and visitors to Rappahannock County. Not everything that appears in every issue will be of interest to every reader.
Second, it’s true that the county is not unified. Chester Gap has strong ties to Front Royal; Amissville is concerned with Warrenton; and much of southern Rappahannock County looks toward Culpeper.
Does that mean that the only “real” parts of Rappahannock County are Sperryville, Washington, and Flint Hill? Should the Rappahannock News be concerned only with those villages?
Of course not. Rappahannock County is diverse - socially, geographically, economically, politically. That’s one of our strengths. And it keeps us unified.

It you think Rappahannock County is diverse, take a look at Isreal. If Isreali Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin and Palestine Liberation Organization leader Yasser Arafat can make peace with each other, we certainly should be able to solve our important but less wordly problems.
